Classes

NAMI SMARTS for Advocacy, Module 2
October 31st, 2020 – 1 to 3 pm CT – Register here!

NAMI Smarts for Advocacy is a hands-on advocacy training program that helps people living with mental illness, friends and family transform their passion and lived experience into skillful grassroots advocacy. The unique step-by-step, skill-building design of NAMI Smarts is effective with a wide range of participants, including those who are new to advocacy as well as individuals with years of experience. Module 2 participants will learn about writing an effective email, making an elevator speech and making an impactful phone call, all for the purpose of being an effective mental health advocate in the upcoming legislative session and beyond. 

Support Groups

NAMI Family Support Group on Support Groups Central (for family, partners, friends and significant others of a loved one with a mental health condition)
1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th Wednesday in October        6:30 PM – 8:00 PM CT

NAMI Connection Recovery Support Group on Support Groups Central (for individuals with a mental health condition)
Every other Monday                      6:00 PM – 7:30 PM CT             October schedule: October 12th and 26th
Every other Wednesday               10:00 AM – 11:30 AM CT          October schedule: October 7th, and 21st
4th Wednesday of the month        6:30 PM – 8:00 PM CT             October schedule: October 28th

2. Click on the Blue Tab that says “Not yet a member? Setup your free account now”
3. Create an account
4. After answering a few questions, it will return you to the NAMI Texas landing page
5. Register for a meeting under “Our Meeting Calendar”

NEW! NAMI Family Support Group for Parents on ZOOM (for parents or caregivers caring for children and adolescents who are living with or having symptoms of a mental health condition.)

   Beginning Tuesday, October 27, 2020      7:00 PM – 8:30 PM

You must pre-register if you want to attend. Limited seats (15 maximum) are available!   Click here to register in advance. After registering, you’ll receive a confirmation email upon approval with information about joining the meeting. Please do not share this link with others – encourage them to go online and register.  You must register by 3:30pm the day of the support group meeting to attend that night’s support group meeting.

NAMI Basics OnDemand

NAMI Basics OnDemand is a free, six-session online education course that was developed in response to the demand for a conveniently accessible version of NAMI Basics. Just like the in-person course, NAMI Basics OnDemand is geared toward the unique needs of parents, other caregivers and other family members who provide care for youth aged 22 or younger who are experiencing mental health symptoms. It is available online 24/7 and covers much of the same material as the in-person course.
