NAMI Texas Now Accepting Recommendations for Bylaws Amendments and Board Nominations
The Nominations and Elections Committee is pleased to begin accepting recommendations for bylaws amendments and nominations for positions on the NAMI Texas Board of Directors and the Texas Representative to the NAMI Consumer Council.
In 2017 the Bylaws require the membership to elect five directors: a director representing regions 2, 4, and 5 and two directors at large, each serving a term of three years (2017-2020). Affiliates in the current year’s designated regions may nominate a director for either Regional Director or an At-Large Director. All other affiliates may nominate an At-Large Director. Nominations for all directors shall be made by the members through Affiliates. No Affiliate may nominate more than one individual for a director position per election. In addition, the bylaws require the membership to elect one Texas Representative to the NAMI Consumer Council for a two year term (2017-2019). Please note that each affiliate can nominate one candidate for the NAMI Texas Board of Directors and the Texas Representative to the NAMI Consumer Council.
Elections and Nominations:
Board nominations must be submitted electronically to Holly Doggett, Executive Director, NAMI Texas (email@example.com), subject line: 2017 BOD Nominations & Elections.
The following documents are required for a valid submission:
- 2017 NAMI TEXAS Board of Directors Nominee Application or 2017 Texas Representative to the NAMI Consumer Council Nominee Application
- Candidate Resume
- Candidate Picture (jpeg)
- 2017 Affiliate Nomination Endorsement
All nominations must be received no later than July 24, 2017.

Bylaws Amendment Proposals:
Members may submit amendments to Bylaws in writing through the approval of affiliate board of directors and sent electronically to Executive Director, NAMI Texas (firstname.lastname@example.org) and with a subject line: Amendments to Bylaws, no later than July 5, 2017. (Note: You can view the current NAMI Texas Bylaws by visiting www.namitexas.org and clicking on ‘About Us’)

The NAMI Texas Board of Directors has established November 4, 2017 as Election Day. The Date of Record shall be September 8, 2017. This date will be used to determine which members are in good standing (membership dues paid in full) in order to receive ballots for the November 4, 2017 elections. The 2017 election will be conducted using paper and electronic ballots. Paper ballots will be mailed to members in good standing who have not provided valid email addresses by September 28, 2017 and must be returned to the NAMI Texas office post marked no later than October 28, 2017. Electronic ballots will be made available to members in good standing who have provided a valid email address by September 28, 2017, and must be cast no later than November 1, 2017.
SPECIAL NOTE: If you have provided a valid email address, you will be receiving your ballot electronically via the email address you provided. Paper ballots are ONLY to be used if you choose not to vote electronically or if you do not have a valid email address.
