NAMI Kerrville serves Kerr and surrounding counties: Bandera, Edwards, Gillespie, Kendall, Kimble, & Real.
NAMI Kerrville was first organized as a non-profit corporation support group, Kerrville Alliance for the Mentally Ill (KAMI), in the late 1980s. A few years later it became an affiliate of the national organization, National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI), and expanded its mission to provide education, support, and advocacy for individuals with mental illness and their family, friends, and caregivers.
NAMI Kerrville’s Monthly Meeting is NAMI Kerrville’s Monthly Meeting is on the second Thursday of each month at the Wells Fargo Bank, Five Points location, Conference Room, 301 Junction Hwy, Kerrville, TX The informal part of the meeting starts at 6 p.m. for a support and share discussion and the program starts at 6:30 p.m.
NAMI Kerrville’s Family Support Group meets from 6:00 – 7:30 p.m. on the 4th Monday of the month on the second floor (Classroom B) of Peterson Regional Hospital.
NAMI Kerrville’s Connections Support Group meets on the 1st Wednesday of each month at the BCFS Building, 1105 Main St, Kerrville, TX 78028, informal part of the meeting is at 6 with the support meeting starting at 6:30. We also meet on the third Thursday of each month at the Peterson Regional Medical Center (hospital), Second Floor (Classroom B), 551 Hill Country Drive, Kerrville, Texas. The informal part of the meeting starts at 6 p.m. with the support meeting at 6:30
Projects & Activities
NAMI Kerrville was the sponsoring and developing organization for the fifteen unit Cedar Elm Place Apartments, 900 Paschal Street, Kerrville which is a HUD Section 811 apartment complex exclusively for individuals with a mental illness. The complex opened in December 2005.
Junction House, a mental health activities center, was established and organized as a subordinate organization through NAMI Kerrville. It meets weekly on Wednesdays and Fridays in the community room at the Cedar Elm Apartments 900 Paschal Street from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and provides a meal and other activities for those attending.
